The International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC) is a branch of the United Nations Environment Programme Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (UNEP DTIE). Its main function is to promote the application of environmentally sound technologies (ESTs) in developing countries and countries in transition. Currently IETC focuses on waste management issues. IETC is a member of the Partnership for Action on Computing Equipment (PACE), within the framework of the Basel Convention. PACE is a multi-stakeholder public-private partnership that provides a forum for representatives of personal computer manufacturers, recyclers, international organizations, associations, academia, environmental groups and governments to tackle environmentally sound refurbishment, repair, material recovery, recycling and disposal of used and end-of-life computing equipment.
